Scootermania!

ScootermaniaTim Cason already had a good full-time job when he approached Glen Giboney at the Truman State University SBDC to investigate the possibility of starting his own business. Tim works on the Truman campus and is a frequent visitor to Glen's office.

The entrepreneurial bug bit Tim, and he started visiting with Glen about establishing a motor scooter retail operation. Together they worked through the typical start-up issues of marketing, financing, licensing, insurance, taxes and regulations.

Before long Tim was on his way with his plans to supplement the family's income through the sale of this unique transportation device. He plans to expand the company into his full-time vocation in the future.

Glen describes Tim as very thorough, never overlooking a single detail. Tim credits the SBDC with making his business start-up process much easier, allowing Tim and his wife to make informed decisions.

Tim has been pleased with the interest in his business. But for now, he'll stay at Truman where he works as a custodian—at least when he's not sitting at the piano in Violette Hall entertaining the faculty, staff and students.
