In
Belton, Mo., Belinda Davis has found maintaining doesn't mean standing
still. She knows it means opportunity, contracts, revenue and business
development.
Davis is president of DGR Associates, Inc., a maintenance contracting
company providing facility repairs, warehousing, custodial labor and
minor construction work to customers throughout the country.
DGR Associates, founded by Davis in 1990, strives to maintain stringent
standards through a demanding and well-tested quality control program
that meets the expectations of its toughest customer ... the United
States government.
Apparently Uncle Sam is more than satisfied with DGR's work. Since
1998, the federal government has awarded DGR Associates contracts
totaling more than $64 million. One of the latest contracts is a five-year
$6 million agreement covering maintenance services for military family
housing at Altus Air Force Base in southwest Oklahoma.
And, it's not by coincidence that 1998 was the same year DGR initiated
its relationship with the Missouri Procurement
Technical Assistance Center (MO PTAC), an affiliate of the Missouri
Small Business Development Centers (MO SBDC) at the University of
Missouri.
"I've worked with Belinda and Jeff Winters (DGR vice president)
over these many years, helping DGR explore federal contracting business
oriented to the maintenance and repair support service they specialize
in," said Donna Leonard, procurement specialist with MO PTAC
in Kansas City. "It's little wonder how DGR Associates has continually
succeeded in receiving a series of federal contracts. They're dedicated
and it shows in the great way they run the business."
That dedication also is reflected by a 2003 award that Davis and
the firm received from the federal Small Business Administration (SBA)
as "Prime Contractor of the Year" in its SBA region.
For their part, Davis and Winters are confident of the company's
many capabilities, which have been put to the test at numerous locales
ranging from Delaware to Alaska. DGR Associates' vast resources can
deal with virtually any maintenance demand: electrical, plumbing and
HVAC systems repair; cabinet refinishing; appliance replacement and
repair; interior and exterior painting; grounds maintenance. The list
seems endless.
"DGR Associates has qualified and trained personnel who know
their respective crafts resulting in no loss in service at an affordable
price," said Davis.
And, she and Winters attribute much of their new and continued government
contract business to the talents and services provided by Leonard
and MO PTAC.
"They provide us a bid matching service (via email) that makes
us aware of any government bidding opportunities that we may be interested
in," Winters explained. "The Procurement Center advises
us of any new requirements for doing business with the federal government,
such as the Central Contractor's Registration."
Because of the consistent business development strides the firm has
made, DGR Associates will represent MO PTAC at the first Client
Showcase and Legislative Breakfast hosted by the MO SBDC on Thursday,
Feb. 10, in the State Capitol Rotunda in Jefferson City. At that event,
DGR Associates and 24 other outstanding Missouri companies will meet
with legislators to discuss their products and services and to be
recognized for their contributions to the economic development of
the state of Missouri. Recognition from MO SBDC and MO PTAC will be
accompanied by legislative resolutions presented by each company's
district state senator and state representative.
