Alice Shoop and Stephanie Brodale opened the Crafter's Cabin in early 2002 to realize their dream of selling retail craft supplies including candle-making materials, quilting supplies, floral supplies and baskets.

They sought help from Glen Giboney in the development of their business plan and financial projections. Glen used the SBDC's fisCAL financial analysis software to perform a variety of calculations.

In their question to find financing, the clients were referred to Larry Lee of the Kansas City SBDC, who assisted them with an application for the SBA Women's Prequalification Program. With the help of the SBDC, the clients acquired the necessary financing to open Crafter's Cabin.

Armed with financing, accurate projections, a solid business plan and a tremendous love for the business they have chosen, Alice and Stephanie's business has become a frequent destination for the crafters in northeast Missouri!
