Amortization

You may be able to amortize and deduct each year a part of certain capital expenses.

The kinds of business expenses which can be amortized are:

  • Start up costs
  • Organizational costs of corporations and partnerships
  • Section 197 Intangibles (goodwill, going concern value, workforce in place, patents, franchises, covenant not to compete, etc.)
  • Reforestation
  • Getting a lease
