To access MissouriBusiness.net, all you need is an internet connection and a Web browser.

Navigation
Navigatation is easy!

The menu bar in the header across the top of each page (see above) will quickly take you to important sections of the site in one click.

The menu bar at the bottom of each page (scroll down) will guide you to other information areas of MissouriBusiness.net.

We suggest making MissouriBusiness.net your start-up page. If you don't know how to do this, steps can be found here.


Software

To fully realize the capabilities of MissouriBusiness.net, we advise using a current browser. The most widely used browsers are Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox. These browsers can be downloaded safely and installed from the following Web sites:

In addition, certain areas of the site require that cookies and java both be enabled within the browser.

For optimal viewing pleasure, we suggest setting your monitor resolution to at least 800 X 600 pixels per inch. If you use Windows, right click on the desktop, select "Properties," and click on "Settings." Slide the "Screen area" slider to "800 by 600 pixels" and click "OK."

RSS News Feed
RSS "Really Simple Syndication" is a web syndication format used by news Web sites and blogs. RSS allows gathering and distributing content from a variety of sources. RSS news aggregators or feed reader software can check RSS-enabled Web sites and display any updated articles found. RSS will check for new content on favorite sites automatically.

Now you can access the most frequently changing information from the Missouri SBDC via RSS and your news reader or aggregator. Just right-click over the RSS button and copy into your news reader.

Updates to MissouriBusiness.net are now available as our RSS news feed. There are a number of ways to access RSS updates.

If you use My Yahoo!, you can pull MissouriBusiness.net updates and news onto your My Yahoo! page. Click on the My Yahoo! button, log in to your account and the MissouriBusiness.net feed will be added. Add to My Yahoo!

Plug-ins and Helper Applications
A "helper" is a program that works with the browser software to interpret various file formats common to the internet. A "plug-in" is a program which seamlessly handle certain file types within a browser. Plug-ins add features to a browser such that the added capabilities seem to be a part of the original browser program. They may allow you the ability to play audio files or view video movies from within the browser.

MissouriBusiness.net uses some helpers and plug-ins to provide content to members. Below are brief descriptions of the helpers used and links to sites where they can be safely obtained at no charge. (Be sure to follow the instructions on the linked sites for how to download and install the helper applications. There is usually more to it than just downloading a file, but it isn't difficult if you follow the instructions.)

  • Adobe Reader get free Adobe Acrobat Reader link leads to an external site
    Adobe Reader is a free software helper from Adobe Systems to read files in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF is a machine independent format for distributing documents electronically and they will retain their formatting, regardless of whether you use an IBM-compatible PC or a Macintosh or whether you have the fonts used in the original document.   • RealPlayer by RealNetworks link leads to an external site
    RealPlayer allows you to play real-time audio, video, animations and multimedia presentations using your web browser.

  • Flash and Shockwave by Macromedia Macromedia link leads to an external site
    Macromedia's Flash Player and Shockwave will allow you to experience high quality animation, interactive multimedia, streaming audio and entertainment on the web
Make MissouriBusiness.net the first page you visit each time you visit the internet

You may want MissouriBusiness.net to be the first page you see when you start your browser. To make MissouriBusiness.net your home page, follow the instructions below for your browser. After completing this, you can easily navigate back to MissouriBusiness.net by clicking the "home" button on your browser toolbar.

If you use Firefox:

  1. Using the Firefox menu, go to "Tools," then "Options," then "Main."
  2. Under "Startup,"
