Pollution Prevention: Applied Engineering for Sustainable Business Practices

University of Missouri offers online accredited Pollution Prevention Course

The University of Missouri has developed a new applied engineering course in Pollution Prevention. The course focuses on methods, principles, and tools that will benefit every engineering student. It teaches industrial and commercial energy audits, waste assessments, water audits, full cost accounting and greenhouse gas calculations. In today's global economy, pollution prevention strengthens a company's competitiveness and corporate sustainability goals.

CV 4285 Pollution Prevention: Applied Engineering and Sustainable Business Practices is an accredited 3 hour engineering elective that can be completed completely on-line during the fall semester. (See syllabus.)

Campus students register through Myzou and off campus students can register through MU Direct.

  • Waste elimination
  • Industrial efficiency
  • Water efficiency, reuse and sustainable stormwater practices
  • Calculating full costs and environmental impacts
  • Quality assurances for data collection
  • Successful technical report writing
  • Measuring results
