P2: Hospitality Material Substitution

Consider installing refillable soap, shampoo, and lotion dispensers in guest bathrooms.

Provide reusable items for guests and throughout the facility.

  • Replace single-use food service supplies (cups, plates, bowls, forks, spoons, knives, napkins, etc.) with reusable ones.
  • Replace plastic cups with durable water glasses in guest rooms.
  • Purchase reusable cloth coffee filters.
  • Use cream pitchers, sugar pourers, and jelly servers rather than individual packets.
  • Use chips or coins instead of disposable paper tickets for coat checking and auto parking.
  • Use rechargeable batteries.

Use bulk dispensers for food and other items.

  • Replace single-serving breakfast cereal boxes with larger bulk dispensers.
  • Use bulk dispensers for condiments and serve in small dishes for room service.

Consider using carpet made of recycled plastic or carpet squares that can be refurbished.
