P2: Hospitality Energy Efficiency

Electricity accounts for 60 to 70% of the utility costs of a typical hotel. Many hotels and resorts have found ways to cut down on the costs without sacrificing guest’s comfort.

Cover windows from sunlight with drapes or shades.

Turn off all unnecessary lighting and specify temperature for HVAC units.

Occupancy sensors are energy-saving devices that can trigger lighting and heating/cooling units when guests enter the room, bathroom or closets.

  • Reduce creation of air pollutants
