Pollution prevention, or P2, encompasses all activities that reduce or eliminate waste of raw materials, energy and water. It also targets the sources of air pollutants (including fugitive emissions) and stormwater.

P2 can dramatically reduce business costs for energy, waste treatment and disposal. P2 can also reduce the amount of needed raw materials, time and effort associated with environmental compliance and worker safety, and the potential liability associated with all pollution.
