If you are seeking an environmental permit, registration or certification for your business, school, community, or activity, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Permit Assistant can help! This easy-to-use tool will ask you a few simple questions to determine what types of environmental permits are needed and also provides the forms to apply for these permits.
Missouri Regional Ombudsman Program
The Ombudsmen Program includes seven appointed representatives across the state whose job is to serve as a point of contact for citizens, businesses and local governments. They forward concerns related to environmental protection, state parks and historic preservation to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources regional directors and the director’s office for action and resolution. Link to the website or call (800) 361-4827 to find out how to contact the ombudsman for your area.
Small Business Ombudsman Program
The Small Business Ombudsman advises and assists small businesses regulated by the Air Conservation Law, and recommends rule changes that would facilitate small business compliance to the Small Business Compliance Advisory Committee and the Missouri Air Conservation Commission. The ombudsman receives and reviews any complaints about the administration of the air regulations that affect small business and makes recommendations to MDNR.
Missouri Small Business Compliance Advisory Committee
The SBCAC evaluates the impact of environmental laws and enforcement policies on small businesses, determines facts and makes investigations consistent with the purposes of the small business technical assistance activity. For more information, contact (800) 361-4827 or (573) 751-4817.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources provides on-site Environmental Assessment Visits (EAVs) with representatives of the business. The purpose of the visit is to improve the understanding of the permit and environmental regulations, and to provide on-site technical assistance specific to the unique operations of the business. The EAV is voluntary and is always scheduled with the business. For a complete guide to what is covered in the site visits, see the MDNR Field Services Operations Manual. To schedule an EAV or for more information, call (800) 361-4827 or contact your MDNR Regional Office.
Small business technical assistance support is provided by the MDNR Air Pollution Control Program and regional offices. This office assists businesses in understanding and completing the appropriate documents required by the Air Conservation Law and related rules. For assistance, contact your MDNR Regional Office or the Air Pollution Control Program at 1-800-361-4827.
