Environmental regulations are all the result of interpreting federal laws that were enacted to protect the nation’s people, air, water, land and wildlife. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) is the regulatory agency charged with enforcing environmental protection laws and regulations in our state. The agency has numerous resources to help businesses understand and comply with their responsibilities, and there are MDNR offices in every region of Missouri that can be contacted for assistance.
You may be reluctant to contact the MDNR if you are uncertain of how environmental regulations impact your business. These primers offer a brief overview of regulations, permits and the legal responsibilities of businesses to protect human health and the environment. These primers and more MDNR resources can be found on the MDNR Publications website. Be sure to scroll down to the section on Pollution Prevention, which contains several publications for specific business practices.
