new Small Business Legislative Update: March 25, 2005
In the second of our legislative updates for the 2005 session, we update you on the movement of several important bills that affect Missouri small businesses. As we predicted, things are moving quickly as lawmakers work to make major changes in health insurance, legal reform and regulatory issues affecting entrepreneurs. Clearly, Missouri’s businesses are uppermost in many legislators’ efforts this session. Although the state budget is creating some fiscal challenges, it’s evident that returning tax revenues to the state economy from the state’s entrepreneurs is viewed as a key ingredient of the state’s recovery.

Small Business Legislative Update: March 3, 2005
We have resumed our legislative updates for the 2005 session of the Missouri Legislature, highlighting legislation that has an impact on the small business community in Missouri. This legislature, which is now term-limited, is moving quickly to enact reforms and policies in several key areas, including healthcare coverage, tort reform, workers' compensation and regulatory reform. Because of this administration's commitment to economic development, these bills will move expeditiously. We will keep you updated as the legislation progresses.

Legislative Update: Spring 2004
With the close of the 2004 legislative session, this report reviews bills pending before the state legislature that have a potential impact on small business. It explains those that were under consideration and two that were passed by the Small Business Committee in the House and by the Small Business, Insurance and Industrial Relations in the Senate.

To get ready for the next session which begins in January, this report provides an overview (or primer) of the legislative process in Missouri. Included are the names of the chairs and members of the Small Business Committees in both the House and Senate. In addition, relevant links displaying House and Senate districts and committee members are included.
